Improved travel information is one of the keys to encouraging the use of public transport by the public. With modern call centres it is now possible to provide information to the travelling public, 24 hours a day, 356 days a week. For call centres the CityPlanner system is of major benefit, enabling operators to provide accurate information, and helping them to reduce average call duration and cost.

The system exists in two forms - a thick client form where the application runs on call centre agents' PCs and a server based version which resides on a Web server for access over the Internet or an Intranet. CityPlanner is a popular system amongst travel call centres in the UK and is used by the National Rail Enquiry Service (NRES) in providing rapid transport information.
